Indian seamers for MRF academy

The four Indian pace bowlers selected to the team for the tour of South Africa will undergo a short stint at the MRF Pace Academy from September 14 to 18.

Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Jaywant Lele told rediff.com that Javagal Srinath, Venkatesh Prasad, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra and Harvinder Singh (the stand-by bowler for the tour) are being sent to the Madras academy as per a directive from India coach John Wright.

Wright, he said, felt the bowlers should train there and have a talk with former Australian great Dennis Lillee, who will be at the academy just before the team leaves for South Africa on September 24.

Bowling coach at the MRF academy and national selector T A Sekhar endorsed Wright's view. He said the academy will basically work on the actions of the bowlers, "as the rigours international cricket sometimes has a negative effect on their bowling action".

Sekhar added that all the bowlers will video-taped and their bowling actions later processed on computer so that they can view and rectify their mistakes.
