Ganguly to use lighter bat in SA
India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly will use a lighter bat on the tour of South Africa later this
month.
According to a report in a Calcutta newspaper, on Thursday, Ganguly was recently in Meerut, where he collected some cricket bats from a noted sports goods manufacturer.
Cricket pundits feel that a lighter bat would help the left-hand batsman on the quicker and bouncier pitches of South Africa.
Ganguly had used a heavier bat on last month's tour of Sri Lanka, where he managed just 166 runs from three matches and six innings, with a match-winning, unbeaten, 98 in the second Test.
The Bengal southpaw, however, said the weight of the bat
had nothing to do with his poor scores on the tour.
