Zaheer has tissue inflammation

A Magnetic Resonance Imaging report on the injured ankle of pace bowler Zaheer Khan, who was forced out of the one-day squad to South Africa, has shown that the bowler has developed tissue inflammation, according to the doctors attending on him.

Radiologist Dr Bhujang Pai said on Thursday that repeated bone scans performed on the Baroda speedster's ankle at the Hinduja hospital in Bombay revealed no abnormality.

"Even after bone scan specialist Dr B A Krishna did the third bone scan nothing was found. However, since Khan continues to experience pain, an MRI was done which showed tissue inflammation," Dr Pai added.

Zaheer needs to rest his ankle for at least four to five weeks and is expected to be fit for the three-match Test series in South Africa, he concluded.
