What: The Common Admission Test for the Indian Institutes of Management, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode, Lucknow, will be held on Sunday, November 19, for their various programmes.

Programmes

Post-graduate programmes in management (equivalent to an MBA)

  • IIM-Ahmedabad: PGP, PGP-ABM and PGP-PMP
  • IIM-Bangalore: PGP and PGSEM
  • IIM-Calcutta: PGP-PGDM and PGP-PGDCM
  • IIM-Indore: PGP and Exec PGP
  • IIM-Kozhikode: PGP
  • IIM-Lucknow: PGP and PGP-ABM

Fellow programme in management (equivalent to a PhD)

IIM-Ahmedabad, IIM-Bangalore, IIM-Calcutta, IIM-Indore, IIM-Lucknow

Note: Separate advertisements will appear for the Fellow programme of each institute as well as IIM-Calcutta's PGDCM programme, IIM-Indore's Exec PGP programme and IIM-Bangalore's PGSEM programme. Admission to IIM Ahmedabad's PGP-PMP 2007-2008 programme will not be based on CAT 2006.  See the CAT Bulletin for further information.

Are you eligible?

For post-graduate programmes in management

~ You must possess a three-year Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in any discipline; the degree must be recognised by the Association of Indian Universities/ All India Council for Technical Education.

~ You must have a minimum overall aggregate of 50 percent.

~ You could be a final year student awaiting your result.

Special eligibility requirements

IIM-Ahmedabad: PGP in Agri-Business Management

~ You should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agriculture Sciences or Agriculture-related disciplines from an institution recognised by the AIU/ AICTE.

~ Or, a three-year Bachelor's degree in any discipline from an institution recognised by the AIU/ AICTE, and a strong interest in Agriculture, Agro/ Food Processing, Rural and Allied Sectors.

~ You must have a minimum overall aggregate of 50 percent.

~ You could be a final year student awaiting your result.

IIM Bangalore: PGP in Software Enterprise Management

~ You must, at the minimum, possess a three-year Bachelor's degree in any discipline from an institution recognised by the AIU/ AICTE.

~ In addition, you need to have a minimum of two years' work experience in the software industry as on June 10, 2007.

~ Applicants with four to five years or more of work experience are likely to gain from this programme.

IIM Calcutta

You can apply to more than one of the post-graduate programmes viz PGDM and PGDCM.

~ For a Post-graduate Diploma in Computer Aided Management, you are required to send a crossed demand draft, payable in Kolkata, for Rs 600 in favour of the Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta between October 16 and November 10, along with the following:

  • Name of the candidate
  • CAT application form number or test registration number
  • e-mail address
  • Complete postal address
  • Phone number

~ The application form will be sent to the applicant on receipt of the demand draft.

~ You could also download the application form from www.iimcal.ac.in.

IIM Indore: Executive PGP in Management

~ You must possess a three-year Bachelor's degree in any discipline from an institution recognised by the AIU/ AICTE.

~ You must have a minimum overall aggregate of 50 percent.

~ You must also have a minimum of five years and up to 15 years of managerial/ entrepreneurial/ professional experience as on August 31, 2007.

~ Only work experience obtained after graduation will be considered.

IIM Lucknow: PGP in Agri-Business Management

~ You should have a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture Science/ Agricultural Engineering or allied subjects from an institution recognised by AIU/ AICTE with a minimum overall aggregate of 50 percent.

~ Or, a three-year Bachelor's degree in any discipline from an institution recognised by the AIU/ AICTE, and at least two years experience or a strong interest in Agriculture, Agro/ Food Processing, Rural and allied sectors.

~ You must have a minimum overall aggregate of 50 percent.

~ Such candidates must submit a special form available with the admission office, IIM-Lucknow.

~ You can also download the form from http://www.iiml.ac.in/

~ The completed form must be submitted before September 19 to:

CAT scores

The CAT scorecard will be mailed to the candidates by January 2, 2007. The CAT score will remain valid for one year for all the IIMs.

Scholarships/ financial assistance

It is the endeavour of all IIMs that no student be denied the opportunity to pursue the post-graduate programme in management for want of adequate financial resources. Substantial need-based scholarships are available for students belonging to economically disadvantaged families.

Reservations

~ As per the requirement of the Government of India 15 percent and 7.5 percent of the available seats are reserved for SC and ST candidates respectively.

~ Details of the reservations for OBC candidates will be notified by the IIMs on their web sites and through advertisements in national newspapers on receipt of an official communication from the appropriate authority.

~ Three percent of the seats are reserved for persons with disability. The three categories of disability are:

a) Low vision/ blindness
b) Hearing impairment
c) Locomotor disability/ cerebral palsy.

~ Issue of CAT bulletins by the IIMs ends: August 21

~ Last date to register online: August 21

~ Last date for filling online application form: September 4

~ Last date for receipt of completed CAT application form by the IIMs: September 9

~ Common Admission Test: November 19

Note: The IIMs reserve the right to change or cancel any test centre at their discretion.

CAT Bulletin

~ The CAT Bulletin containing the CAT application form and other information can be obtained at the branches of the UTI Bank/ Post offices until August 17 for Rs 1,100 (Rs 550 for SC/ST candidates).

~ For a list of UTI Bank branches/ Post offices, visit www.iimcat2006.com.

~ Please note that a candidate needs to buy only one CAT Bulletin irrespective of how many IIMs h/she is applying to.

~ All candidates must enclose the third copy of the bank's/ IIM's pay-in slip with the CAT application form.

~ SC/ ST candidates should submit a copy of the SC/ ST certificate to the bank/ IIM at the time of obtaining the CAT Bulletin.

~ Please ensure your eligibility to appear in CAT before procuring the CAT Bulletin.

~ CAT application forms of ineligible candidates and application forms with incomplete information will be rejected. No claim of refund will be entertained on a bulletin once sold.

~ The CAT bulletin can also be obtained directly from any one of the IIMs till August 21, under exceptional circumstances such as:

  • The stock of bulletins is exhausted in the nearby branch of the bank.
  • The bank branch is inaccessible to the candidate.
  • The bulletin sale through banks is closed.

~ Your request must be accompanied by a crossed demand draft for Rs 1,200 (Rs 600 for SC/ ST candidates with a copy of the SC/ ST certificate) drawn in favour of the respective IIM, along with a cloth-lined self-addressed unstamped envelope of size 12" x 10".
