Got a low score in the AIEEE?

You wanted admission to a top-notch engineering college in India.

However, you got a low score in the All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Exam. What do you do now?

Career counsellor Srividya from YoungBuzz chatted with Get Ahead readers for an hour and this is her advice:

'You could try for admission at a private engineering college. You could also pursue a Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics or a management course.'

Srividya answers, 
Hey there, the National Council of Hotel Management & Catering Technology has 24 institutes all over India. In Chennai, you could check out the Institute of Hotel Management, CIT Campus, TTTI-Tharamani, Chennai. 


dootika asked, I am currently studying in 12th and want to go into mass communication. What would you suggest?

Srividya answers, 
Opt for a Bachelor's degree in mass media offered by various colleges in your city. This is a good way to explore a career in mass communication.


ANNUPRAKASH asked, I AM IN CLASS XII WITH PHY,CHEM & MATH 91% MARKS IN CLASS . I WANT TO DO ENGG. FROM ANY IIT IN SOFT WARE PL. GUIDE ME. ANNU

Srividya answers, 
IIT conducts its own entrance exam known as the IIT Joint Entrance exam. However, it is already over for this year. You could opt for a state entrance exam to other state colleges. You could also try for IIT next year.


Suresh asked, I hav cleared my +2 & I want 2 join correspondence BMS so can u suggest the college

Srividya answers, 
There are no correspondence courses in BMS.


sandy asked, Hi,I completed my 12th studies this yr in kerala HSE syllabus and got a percentage score of 93.3 ie 560/600. My real interest are in the field of journalism , management and engg. Please tell me the scope and job prospects and the course i can choose.

Srividya answers, 
All three streams are very diverse. You must narrow down your options as each has a unique pre-requisite. You could take an aptitude test and also try to ascertain your true interest and potential. The scope in all three is good today.


tej asked, What should I do after 12th Commerce.

Srividya answers, 
You have career options galore. B Com with finance an accounts, B Com with banking and insurance, Bachelor of Management Studies, Chartered Accountancy, etc.


hehehehe asked, i'm a student who wants to get into the crime branch ..... the detective type .... hw do i do tat ???

Srividya answers, 
You must be a graduate and sit for the UPSC entrance test that is pretty competitive. You must get into the IPS ie Indian Police Service. With years of experience, you could get into the crime branch.


tvsiyer asked, i hv cleared aieee with 6324 rank. can i hope to get admission in delhi college of engg ?

Srividya answers, 
Seems tough, but you never know. If you get a call letter, your admission will depend on the interview.


Sanjay asked, My daughter has just passed xth from UP Board with 65% marks. She got 91% marks in drawing and her drawing is really good. Please advice me which line she would chose for her future career.

Srividya answers, 
After Class XII, preferably with science background, she could give the entrance exam for National School of Design, Ahmedabad where she can opt for professional course in design or a Bachelor's in Fine Arts from a good college like the JJ School of Arts, Mumbai. You also have NIFT, Srishti College of Art, Design and Technology, Bangalore. Familiarise yourself with the courses and then decide which one to go for.


saumya asked, hi,i am a commerce student nd am waiting for my hsc results.I am intrested in gng for acturial science.I have heard that the eligibility for this course is minimum 85% marks in maths.is this true?or is there ny entrance exams for students scoring less than 85% in maths ?

Srividya answers, 
Yes, you do need 85 per cent in Maths to pursue a Bachelor's degree in acturial science.


ana asked, Hi! my son has given Xth this year. He wants to pursue biotech as career. Could you please give us some premier institutes in India for biotech and the entrance exams if any..thanx.

Srividya answers, 
Various universities offer biotechnology. The best course is offered by IIT. Then you have Centre for Biotechnology, Anna University, Chennai. You also have B Sc in biotechnology or a B Sc in any biosciences and then an M Sc in Biotech.

Srividya answers, 
If you are confused, go for an aptitude test. It gives an accurate picture about your interest and aptitude. Career guidance companies usually administer this test.


softy asked, Sir,I got 56 percentage in 12th board with science-bio. what should I do now

Srividya answers, 
In which area are you interested? You must try and find this out.

It is recognised.


ghansham asked, Hi, Good Evening, i want set a good career, please guide me for any good course for Oil or Chemicals?

Srividya answers, 
You could pursue a BTech in Oleochemicals or a BTech in chemical engineering. And then a Master's from the Mumbai University Institute of Chemical Technology.


prakash asked, i have passed xii CBSE board with 75% marks with 90% in maths. i would like to go for engeenering. can u guide me with web site of some engeneering colleges in & around mumbai? what is the scope of Aeronautical engeneering ?.

Srividya answers, 
Aeronautical engineering is offered by IIT. The scope is big abroad in terms of jobs as you have many manufacturing companies. Here, you can either work for an airline or in the defence services.


raashi asked, hii..........i have just given my 12th in science-vocational(electronics). at present i have given engg entrances. i m confused about which engg i should take up, mechanical or electronics and communication. plz help

Srividya answers, 
All 3 fields have equal amount of scope. Choose depending on what interests you the most.


chitraj asked, hi im chitraj i have just passed class XII with 86% in arts subjects including psychology,geography,political science,english and economics. now im confused about which stream to chooose in college. im also interested in gis and pursuing geography,kindly suggest!!!

Srividya answers, 
The scope with geography is limited to teaching and research. There is good scope with psychology, english literature, economics. Later you could pursue management, mass media, banking etc.
