You have completed Class X. 

What stream should you choose next: science, arts or commerce?

According to YoungBuzz counsellor Srividya who chatted with Get Ahead readers, it depends on what your favourite subjects are.

If you like physics, chemistry, maths, you could go for science. If you like languages, history, geography, etc, go for arts. If you are good with numbers, go for commerce.

i have passed my 10th & need to know about the various ways to do future career in biotech.

Srividya answers, 
You must complete Class XII with PCMB and pursue a BTech programme in biotechnology from IIT or a BSc in biotechnology from a good university.

You could get into teaching or historical research.

Srividya answers, 
Hi Ankit, do not lose hope. There is much scope in computers, biosciences, management, IT, etc. You could go for a Bachelor's degree in these subjects. Go for an aptitude test. Maybe you are more cut out for some other field besides engineering.

The IITs are the BEST. You also have BITS-Pilani and VJTI that are good.

just cleared 12th with 67% agg in pcm n 75 overall,engineering exams also didnt go well, tell me what r other options such as hotel management n what is their scope.

Depending on your interest, you can pursue designing, IT, management, media, hotel management, etc. All of these have great scope today.

CET is rated on 200 points. More than 180 is a good score and will get you admissions in A-grade colleges.

You need to be a graduate from any background to pursue and MBA programme.

You must complete Class XII with PCM. Appear for IIT Joint Entrance Exam conducted every year. Log on to www.iitb.ac.in for more info.



Raul asked, hi i have cleared hsc boards this year am am very fond of biology especially zoology.. i would like to do something involving biology and not maths.... what are my options??

Srividya answers, 
You could pursue B Sc in zoology and other related subjects like botany, biotechnology, microbiology, biochemistry, zoology, etc.

You need Class XII with PCM as your subjects. Appear for the entrance exams of IIT or MHT-CET ie Maharashtra Common Entrance Test. Pursue a BTech in aeronautical engineering or a BE in mechanical engineering and, later, an MTech in aeronautical engineering.

You could do a BSc in IT or a BSc in computer science and, later, certificate programmes offered by Cisco, Novel, IBM, etc.

I have just given my Board exams and i am soon expecting the results can you please tell me how to pursue career in Hotel management

Srividya answers, 
Post Class XII, preferably with science. You could appear for the entrance exam conducted by the National Council of Hotel Management & Catering Technology to pursue a three-year degree programme in hotel management.

hello , respected sir , shyam here i have recently given 10 th class and now i need to choose the subject which should i prefer. i am having interest in maths and science but my biology is weak so i cannot take pcb. so i can go pcm but all the students who have given 12 recently says pcm is tough is it really so. if so suggest some other options

If you are interested in Maths, definitely go for a PCM. It's not tough provided you study hard.

If you want a career in management and you are good with numbers, ie like mathematics, then opt for BBA.

You need Class XII with PCM as your subjects. Appear for the entrance exams of IIT or MHT-CET. Pursue a BTech in aeronautical engineering or a BE in mechanical engineering and, later, an MTech in aeronautical engineering.

For IT and computers you need PCM; for biomedical, you need PCMB.

Instead of engineering, you could consider a Bachelor's degree in other subjects like IT, computer science, management, etc, depending on your interest. Get an aptitude test done.

No, you must have completed Class XII science and PCM to be precise.

awaiting X results. want to take up dramatics. Does XI support such subjects? If not, what to do to pursue it?

After graduation. if you are really serious about dramatics, take up a course at the National School of Drama in Delhi or at the FTII, Pune.
