What: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) invites admission to PhD/ Vidyavaridhi programmes for the semesters of July 2007 and January 2008.

~ The University will hold a Common Research Entrance Test (CRET) at Varanasi for admission to programmes leading to PhD/ Vidyavaridhi degree in the following disciplines:
- Faculties of Arts
- Social Sciences (except in the Department of History and Department of Sociology)
- Sanskrit Vidya Dharma Vigyan
- Science (except in the School of Biotechnology)
- Commerce
- Management Studies
- Law
- Agriculture
- Education
- Medicine
- Dental Sciences
- Ayurveda.
Are you eligible?
~ Candidates of NET/ GATE, QIP/ FIP, etc are eligible for direct admission (CRET-exempted) in the faculties, and also in the faculties of Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Engineering and Technology.
~ Candidates appearing in the final year of the qualifying examination may also apply, but results should be declared before the commencement of the semester.
Important dates
~ Date for common research entrance test is June 11.
~ Last date for submission of application forms is May 15.
How to apply?
~ Information bulletins and application forms can be obtained only from the Entrance Test Cell, Office Of The Controller Of Examinations, BHU, Varanasi -- 221 005, on cash payment of Rs 250/-.
~ Alternatively, you can send for the information bulletin and application form either by registered post, or by sending a written request mentioning name, postal address and details of a crossed MICR demand draft/ banker's cheque issued by any nationalised/ scheduled bank for Rs 300/-. The demand draft/ cheque has to be drawn in favour of the Controller of Examinations, Banaras Hindu University, payable at Varanasi along with a self-addressed, unstamped envelope of size 32cm x 26cm.
