What: Announcing the launch of Eureka! 08, Asia's largest B-Plan competition.

Eligibility:

~ Students and Working Professionals from all over the world can participate.

~ Single Entry is allowed in the Competition though participation in teams is encouraged.

~ Though it must be noted that teams who have registered their company/ startup before the span of last one year, are not eligible to participate in Eureka! 2008 .

~ Entries must be the original work of entrants.

~ Final decision is left with the E-cell team members. All conflicts subject to jurisdiction of Mumbai Courts only.

The incentives for the winners of Eureka! 08 are proposed to be as follows

  • A total prize of up to 50,000 USD.
  • This is the first time a 'cleantech' prize will be declared for the two best entries in the field of clean/ sustainable technology.
  • The cash awards are Rs 1,00, 000 and Rs 70, 000, respectively, for the first two places (roundtrip airfare travel to Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA), and winners will be chosen to compete in the Sustainable Technology Track of the McGinnis Venture Competition, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA for additional prizes.

Schedule for Eureka!08

  • Registration starts: September 1
  • Deadline for submission: October 4
  • First round results: November 4
  • B-plan draft submission: November 30
  • Mentors meet: December 7
  • Final submission: December 27
  • Second round results: January 18
  • Eureka finals: February 8  

Venture Capital Funding:
Opportunities for VC Funding through our wide business network.

An association formed with Mumbai Angels group of angel investors will allow some of the finalists to present their plans in front of them (50+ angel investors) for investment and bypass the first stage of filtering.

Associations with global firms like Crossover Advisors and INTUIT will enhance the experience of the participants as regards the experience gained from the competition for future ventures.

Incubation opportunities:
E-Cell is in the process of setting up a panel of incubators. This will allow our participating teams access to significantly higher incubation opportunities.

All the finalists will be eligible for continued advanced mentoring after the Eureka! finals.

Consultancy :
Consultancy will be provided by Seedfund through a workshop to the top 40 teams over the details of IPR, Valuation and how to deal with VCs, which is a must for any first stage entrepreneurs who don't know the legalities of equity sharing.
