Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati said on Tuesday that everyone should accept the outcome of the excavation at the disputed site in Ayodhya.

"God is still existing in the site. Now he is in a makeshift hut. Later, he will be installed in a temple," the shankaracharya said after the inauguration of an eye hospital in Kolkata.

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court had on March 5 ordered the Archaeological Survey of India to excavate the disputed site within a week and complete the process within a month to ascertain whether a temple existed at the place where the Babri Masjid was built.

Describing the court order as "a just and balanced move", he said it was wrong on the part of some groups to oppose it.

Asked if he would meet Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to discuss the Ayodhya issue, the shankaracharya said, "Whenever the call comes and opportunity beckons, I will."

He disagreed with a suggestion that the Vishwa Hindu Parishad was trying to foment communal passion. "The VHP is only an organisation to spread Hindutva."

The seer said the Kanchi-Ayodhya Development Trust had initiated a training programme, involving 200 men and women from both Hindu and Muslim communities, to spread the message of peace and amity in Ayodhya.
