The Congress on Monday warned of reviewing its ties with the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh if it supported the Central Bureau of Investigation's decision to drop the conspiracy charge against top Bharatiya Janata Party leaders in the Babri Masjid demolition case.

It is believed that the BJP had tacitly helped the Samajwadi Party form the government in UP after the Bahujan Samaj Party's Mayawati resigned.

The UP government is now in the process of replacing its counsel in the Supreme Court. The new counsel may file a new affidavit replacing the one defending the filing of the supplementary charge sheet by CBI in the Ayodhya case dropping the conspiracy charge against top BJP leaders.

"We do not know the final stand of the Samajwadi Party-led government in UP. We will look at all possibilities, including reviewing our ties, if we find BJP leaders, including Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani, Union HRD Minister M M Joshi and others have been let off the hook," party spokesman S Jaipal Reddy told reporters in Delhi.

"The UP government must press the charge of communal conspiracy against Advani, Joshi and others," he said.
