Unusual monsoon pics: A close 'brush' with rain!

We invited you to send in unique rain-themed photographs -- odd scenes that are captured on a lens for posterity -- to share with other readers. Here are some more responses!

First up is this amusing image from Sudhyasheel Sen, who explains, "It was taken on an overcast and drizzly Sunday morning in Central Kolkata. The old man was lazily performing his early morning chores under a striking blue umbrella. The colours caught my eye and I froze this monsoon moment forever."

This next one was sent in by Biju Krishnan, who says, "Igatpuri is some 160 kilometres away from Mumbai and is a must-visit during the monsoons. It's known as fog country for, in the monsoons and winters, a dense fog descends on the valley. People can also drive to the Bhandardara Waterfalls, some 35 kilometres from Igatpuri and enjoy the waterfalls and lakes."

"This pics shows why you need to drive slowly and safely, as the visibility on the road is restricted to a few metres only. Don't forget to stop at the countless waterfalls on the way."

Jayshankar Aiyar e-mailed in this next one, saying, "I took these photographs at Hosur (a town at the border of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, near Bangalore). The ring formation occurred in the afternoon on July 11. There was moisture in the air after overnight rain, which caused the rainbow-like formation in the sky in the form of a ring."

We loved this image of a drooping purple flower with raindrops hanging off of it from Gulshan Matta, who says it was taken at a Hanuman Temple in Gangtok, Sikkim.

And finally, Kalpesh Shah sent in this picture of himself enjoying a waterfall along the Peb Fort Trek Route in Matheran.
