A great getaway from Leh is the Pangong lake. Specs: 130 km long and located at 4,250 metres above sea level. Considered to be the world's highest sea, two thirds of this salt water lake is in China. Peas and barley are grown by the lake. Herds of yaks graze. Cajole a villager to give you a yak ride.
