During the ascent the landscape changes wildly. From pine forests and meadows, the scenery gives way to mountain vistas and grand views of the Beas valley and the moon-like landscape of Lahaul. On the journey down from Rohtang, motorists are afforded a splendid eyeful of the White Sail massif before reaching Koksar in the Chandra valley. Jispa is a pleasant halt thereafter.
