Fast Facts

Pushkar is located 13 km to the west and north of Ajmer and usually a bus leaves Ajmer for Pushkar at least every half-hour from a main stand near the station. Autorickshaws can also take one to Pushkar for about Rs 100.

And Ajmer is 12 hours from New Delhi by train and Delhi Mail, Delhi Express and Ashram Express connect the two cities. Jaipur is 3 hours away by road and 3 hours away by train and Shatabdi Express, Delhi Mail, and Delhi Express connect the two cities.

Plenty of accommodation is available, ranging from dharamshalas to two room hotels to rooms in private homes to big, expensive hotels. There's a room for every budget. During the fair season room prices skyrocket and it is best to book in the smaller guesthouses beforehand. The weather is very cool at this time of year and booking an air conditioned room is not a must.

However it is the tented camps which are the big draw. These camps are set up on one side of the fair grounds. Some of these tented camps provide camping-in-sheer luxury. Elegant tents with sophisticated, well-designed interiors with attached baths and even a dressing room are a great lure for tourists.
