Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal is on a mission to reform the Indian education system and the latest in the list of reforms is the possibility of changing the marking system of the Class XII board exams to a grading system.

The grading system has been introduced for Class X exams of the CBSE board this year in an effort to eliminate human error during evaluation and to help ease the pressure on students.

The idea of a similar pattern for the Class XII exams was discussed by the minister, on the sidelines of a conference on the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. He also mentioned that the move was "in the thinking process, no decision has been taken yet'.

But will a grading system be the answer to rising stress levels among students and their parents?

In a system where every percentage point means the difference between getting admission into a good college or settling for second best, will the grading system will be an effective method to reduce unhealthy competition?

How will colleges decide on admissions when tens of thousands of students claim the same grades?

What do you think of the introduction of a grading system for Class XII exams? Share your opinions and suggestions on the messageboard below!
