Designer Rajesh Aiya held a special fashion show as a tribute to 26/11 victims on October 5 in Mumbai. The line, christened The Gunshot Collection, consisted of garments which had been rent in spots by actual bullets and was meant to represent both the repercussions of terrorism and the ability of the brave to boldly face up to it. Aiya's two showstoppers were modelled by musician and Michael Jackson's brother, Jermaine Jackson and model-actress Mahek Chahal.

Things were off to a sober start with the models taking to the ramp blindfolded, signifying the helplessness of the victims of terror. Seen here is a deep maroon kurta, a tear going right through the centre to represent a bullet wound.

Fade to pale

Up next was this pale lilac jacket for men, torn at the shoulder and chest and teamed with faded denims.

Golden reminder

A deep gold kurta is matched with sunny yellow dye-effect pants, both displaying the effects of violence.

Conventional cool

Jeans are teamed with a white tee and black jacket to keep things conventional but classy.

Formal turn

Aiya's garments now move into a more formal groove, with this emerald green ensemble showing off work on the border and a daring asymmetrical hemline on the skirt.

Keeping it long

Long and yellow, a trench-style jacket for men makes its presence felt on the runway.

Royal blue

With its hues emulating the colours of the ocean, this ghagra-choli reveals a slimming silhouette and tasteful embroidery.

Distressed duds

Aiya's penchant for distressing garments is not out of place this season -- anything with the worn, ragged look of this striped jacket is 'in'.

Dare to bare

Yellow and red make for a striking ethnic combination, but this positively miniscule bikini choli is a real show-stealer.

Velvet verve

Soft and sensual, a rich velvet sherwani with floral motif on the sleeves is definitely wedding material.

Showstopper Number One

Bollywood actress and model Mahek Chahal struts her stuff in the designer's showstopper for women, a stunning aqua ghagra choli.

Showstopper Number Two

Musician and brother of deceased popstar Michael Jackson, Jermaine Jackson then took to the runway amidst thunderous applause. The jacket he wore will be put up for auction worldwide and the proceeds will go to charity.

Trumphant close

Rajesh Aiya, stepping out onto the runway with Jackson, looks jubilant at the end of a successful showing.
