Unusual monsoon pics: A jewelled web

Last updated on: July 20, 2010 15:38 IST

We invited you to send in unique rain-themed photographs -- odd scenes that are captured on a lens for posterity -- to share with other readers. Here are some more responses!

First up is this truly spellbinding image from Shilpi Verma Mohan in Mumbai. "I clicked this pic on my recent holiday to Panchgani," she explains. "As I prepared for some adventurous activities at camp, I saw this between the rocks. It looks like a cluster of diamonds, but it's actually a cobweb holding water droplets after the rain. It looked beautiful, more like a dimanod ring to me! Nature can make an ordinary, dirty web so beautiful."

Share your interesting monsoon snapshots with us! They could be from anywhere across India or the world, but they have to be original.

Simply e-mail your photographs to getahead@rediff.co.in (subject line: 'Unusual monsoon pics') -- we'll publish the most interesting ones right here. And make sure to include a little-write up of where you clicked the snap.

Remember, the theme is the monsoons, so your photograph has to gel with the season. Hurry and send in your entry today!

This next one was e-mailed in by Naga Sundar. "It was taken when we went on a team outing to Vaigai Dam, Madurai. It was raining and the sun was hidden by clouds," he says. Doesn't the single beam of light shining through look striking?

Shivani Rai sent in this next one, shot in Florida during the rains. Hot tea and snacks in the rain -- aah! What more can one possibly want?

"This photograph was taken in Rangathittu Bird Sanctuary near Mysore in July. The ibis is returning to its nest as the storm clouds gather for a downpour," says Nandini Ramprasad.

Four men and an umbrella!

And finally, we have this in from Mahantesh S Gokavi. "This is Rajgad, around 70 kilometres south of Pune. It took us four hours to reach the top of Bale Killa, where it was raining heavily." No wonder they're all trying to share a single umbrella!
