Curious camel

This next image is from Ramesh Anand, shot at Chennai Zoo in the month of May. "He looks pitiable, as there was no water nor trees nearby to beat the heat," he explains. "We were also viewing him in the midday heat, so I'd just like to say cool down, my friend!"

Shadow play

Abhishek Nandi sent in this one, saying, "It was a hot, humid Sunday afternoon and I took this snap from the banks of the river Hooghly at Panihati,West Bengal."

Fiery flowers

These flowers seem to reflect the fiery hues of a summer sunset. Ashok Seluka, who e-mailed in the pic, says, "I happened to shoot it in our company park in Sunnyvale, California. We were enjoying a barbeque and it was a cloudy day; however, the flower seemed to radiate heat."

The moon plays hide 'n' seek

And finally we have a lovely photograph from Guru Nair, who says, "I took it at 2 am from atop my Ambernath Bungalow."
