Your pics: The glory of the setting sun

We invited readers to send in their favourite travel pic -- that one photograph that perfectly captures the beauty of a place they visited. And we have been inundated with stunning pics of every corner of this beautiful country. We would like to thank readers for the tremendous response. Keep those pics coming!

As a follow up to readers' sunrise pics, here we present photographs readers sent in of (you guessed it) breathtaking sunsets.

Brian Lobo sends in this view from Malpe Beach, near Udupi in Karnataka.

"I took the picture after wading into the sea some distance, as behind me there were scores of people bathing or playing in the cool Arabian Sea waters as the waves rushed to them. For that one instant I was alone with nature inspite of being in the midst of that crowd."

Next Vidhya Sumra shares this pic of the Sam Sand Dunes on the outskirts of Jaisalmer, 42km from the main town.

"It is best to be here at sunrise or sunset, and many camel safaris spend a night at the dunes. The best way to see this and other sights around Jaisalmer is by camel safari."

Tungabhadra dam, Karnataka


Here Saifadam Pathan sends this picture taken near the Tungabhadra Dam at Hospet, Karnataka.

"Hospet is very close (12km) from the historic world heritage site of Hampi. This snap shows a local fisherman in the unique circular boats fishing against the backdrop of the setting sun."

Goa


I clicked this pic in Goa in December 2008," shares Dr Bakul Arora

"What I like about the photo is how beautifully it unites land with water, water with sky, sky with light and the light reflects back on water."

St Mary's Island, Karnataka


Next Suhasini G Sharma sends this pic of St Mary's Island, about 7 km (30 minute ferry ride) off the coast of Malpe beach in Udupi.

"The rock formations on St Mary's Island are very unusual and it is the only place in India where basalt rocks have crystallised into columns and split into hexagonal mosaic," she says. "It's a beautiful place to unwind and rejuvenate yourself."

Harne Bandar beach, Maharashtra


Although I am frequent tourist to the Konkan beaches, which are really clean and nature is at it's best, it was my first trip to Harne Bandar (approximately 250 km from Pune)," says Suhas D Mohol.

"The photo was taken just a few minutes before sunset; I wanted to catch the crow flying and the boat with the background of the beautiful sunset."

Wayanad, Kerala
