Cool cottons and floral fantasies at Fashion Week

Asmita Marwa continued withthe theme from her spring/summer collection earlier this year, inspired by her imaginary muse Maya on Day One of the LFW.

Designer Asmita Marwa introduced us to a mystical, imaginary muse at the previous instalment of Fashion Week earlier this year. Now, in a second coming, she reacquaints us with Maya, a "free-spirited world traveller, bohemian at heart", who "dreams of a world without boundaries."

In the 'Evolution of Maya' collection, however, she is now a complete woman, having evolved into someone with both earthly connections and spiritual leanings -- she has ended her destination of self-discovery.

Natural dyes and fabrics like khadi, along with doris (threads) and an assortment of colours, prints and textures characterised the garments. Seen here is a green gauze linen rose print and burnt red cotton layered dress.

The same print is repeated once more in an asymmetrical top, worn over red samurai pants.

Mix it up

This dress is in grey gauze linen and it's teamed with a checkered scarf that goes with the roses.

Sharara style

Gigantic sharara pants in checkered cotton go well with a bikini, over which is worn a block-printed spirals top with doris.

Next Marwa sends out this saffron top embellished with scallops and doris; it's worn over tiny handloom cotton check shorts.

Don't these floral shararas and linen kurta have a hippie feel to them?

Sensual and vibrant

We loved this tomato red knotted blouse and vivacious twirling ghagra -- very sensual!

Wispy and crisp

The last outfit on the catwalk is this kota sari, continuing with the scalloped theme in orange.

In her own design

Marwa steps out with hands folded in appreciation -- and doesn't that dress look familiar?
