Fashion: Utterly feminine folk-inspired beauties

Designer Anita Dongre showcased a range of cocktail and ethnicwear on Day One of Lakme Fashion Week, complete with a folk dance performance on the ramp midway. Take a look.

Rhythm, colour and plenty of pizzazz defined Anita Dongre's creations at the LFW.

While the first segment of the show consisted of cocktail dress, the second half was all about formals, both ethnic and Western.

Seen here is a printed number with single asymmetric strap and accessorised with traditional silver oxidised jewellery, which was something of a running theme.

A folk performance by two young girls in traditional dress proved a lively diversion and neatly segmented Dongre's second line from her first.

We see the first of the Indianwear -- a black ghagra choli with hints of matte embroidery, plenty of necklaces and an interesting printed dupatta.

This blue-green printed jacket -- it seemed lovely, but remained mostly hidden behind the dupatta.

A ribbed black cut-away revealed a few curves and was drizzled with shiny beads.

Here we have a tomato red skin-tight blouse, atop a more muted grey-red-gold ghagra swirling below.

Model Anjali Lavanya treated us to another impromptu set of dance moves in this gorgeous backless number with its hem of gold.
