Couture Week: Beauties bathed in rubies and pearls

A bad dress can ruin even a perfect piece of jewellery. The old fashion adage was something Devaunshi Mehta should've known. She's been operating the first multi-brand jewellery and watch store DiA at the Taj Mahal Hotel since 2000.

For her collection at the HDIL India Couture Week, Devaunshi's designs were worn over Surily Goel's dresses. Now Surily has done some breathtaking work over the years. But her grey and black theme didn't seem to blend well with the dazzling rubies and emerald neckpieces. We're sure by themselves Devaunshi's designs would look just fine. Let's take a look:

Diamonds may be her best friends but there's nothing to beat the magic of a pearl. A model sports a pearl armlet and shows just how it works.

Girl with the pearls

Heck no wardrobe can be complete without a set of pearl jewellery. Here's why!

Ruby Tuesday

Or was it a Monday? Damn, we sure lost track of time. Set in white gold, we'd recommend you save this lovely ruby set for a special evening.

Sexyback

Amrit Maghera stands tall sporting the exquisitely cut emerald earrings and a bracelet to go.

All your Moni's worth

What is it about this girl that we simply can't take our eyes off her! We think she's also put on some weight. What's up girl! We were really considering sending a malnutrition expert over to your house soon.

Go bag it!

This 18k white gold handbag with 64.75 carats of diamonds sure was a 'piece de resistance'.

And the designer

Devaunshi Mehta soaks in the applause. Surily is conspicuously missing, though.
