Last updated on: May 13, 2010 13:43 IST

We invited you to send in unique summer-themed photographs -- odd scenes that are captured on a lens for posterity -- to share with other readers. Here is the first set of responses!

First up is Rohan Kale's contribution. "This is one of my best pics, taken at Nariman Point at night in aamchi Mumbai," he says. "When the whole city is feeling the heat of May, this is the only place where one doesn't feel hot, with breeze blowing all the time..."

Share your interesting summer snapshots with us! They could be from anywhere across India or the world, but they have to be original.

Simply e-mail your photographs to getahead@rediff.co.in (subject line: 'Unusual summer pics') -- we'll publish the most interesting ones on rediff.com and in India Abroad. And make sure to include a little-write up of where you e is summer, so your photograph has to gel with the season. Hurry and send in your entry today!

Hip dip

This next one is from Prasun Sanyal. "This photograph was taken at Delhi Zoo in the month of March," he says. "The hippo calf is relaxing in the water due to the heat. Every animal, whether big or small, was relaxing in either shade or taking to water."

Grabbing a nap

Shaleen Shah e-mailed us this image, saying, "I just couldn't stop myself from clicking this picture on a hot Sunday afternoon in Jaipur. I could just see how important that tree's shade was to the watchman, who was relaxing a little too much!"

At the tea stall

We received this one from Sandeep Sekhon, of a little girl at a roadside tea stall, her head covered to keep the fierce summer heat at bay.

Three little men in a tub!

And finally, we have this image from Manjunath Sagar, of his son Akhilesh playing with cousins during the summer holidays. "This is his favourite grandmother's house in Balegundi, Sagar, in the Shimoga District," he explains.
